Hi Folks.
As I approach completion on the updated Home Group Overhead software, I
have been impressed with the necessity of creating and accomodating an
automated licensing robot whereby thousands of people per day can pay
for and obtain their licenses to it without any need of human
intervention on my end. I have put everything into my program
needed to accomodate this, and yet there remains a need:
I am looking for someone who can go in as a partner with me in creating
the automated licensing robot itself. In addition to it being the
tool I use to license my own HGO software, the robot will also be a
tool that any shareware author can run to license his own software as
well... for a price. Each software author who uses our robot will
pay us $299 for a licensed copy of the robot. That is how the
perl programmer will be compensated for his (or her) perl
programming... by our splitting the money from licenses sold (to
shareware authors) for licensed copies of that licensing robot itself.
The licensing robot will consist of a VB program (activeX object) I
will write and a perl script the perl guy will write. Although
the perl script is open source, in order to utilize it the shareware
programmer who uses it needs my half, which is compiled and distributed
with the perl part as shareware.
The shareware programmer who uses our robot will run a client (my VB
part) on his broadband (or even dialup) at intervals throughout the
day, and then his web hosting service (which is a server) will run the
perl script. Broadband services don't allow subscribers to run
servers on their connection, but there is nothing against subscribers
running a client on it. Any software programmer who writes
shareware can also write their own license generation algorithm and
keep it on their own box at home. Their little aplet that they
write to do that plugs into my activeX half of the licensing robot and
it goes out to talk to the perl half. Thus all the work is done
for them but the parts that they want to keep a secret tucked away at
home anyway.
They get to try out the licensing robot for a time, then they must
register it to keep on using it. Thus they send me money by
paypal, which I split with the perl programmer and we both get some
residual income. And they get to keep their license code
generation a secret at home. All they need is the bare minimum of
programming skills whereby they wrote the shareware they want to
license, and an internet connection, and a web hosting account that
hosts their web page that offers their shareware (all of which they
already have, let's face it).
Regarding the perl programmer person, my preference is for someone who
is so well versed in perl already that it will take them almost no time
to program the perl scripts that need done. I don't mind if the
perl scripts are based on publicly available perl scripts. If GNU
based, that's ok too, as we can (technically) give away the GNU based
perl stuff and charge for my VB half, and I'll still be happy to split
the proceeds down the middle because it enables the whole
package. If someone needs to do some brushing up, they will need
a lot of time per week to do so, because I need to get moving on this
project very, very quickly.
If you know someone with whom you would have no problem seeing me yoked
in a business endeavor, and you think they may be able to do this,
please let me know. Please feel free to forward this to them.
